PNG’s Birds of Paradise to Feature in Disney Production

A male Superb Bird of Paradise displays his colours to attract a mate in the Tari Valley of Papua New Guinea in Disneynature's EARTH

Walt Disney Studios will celebrate Earth Day 2009 (April 22) with the debut of Earth, the first feature-length nature documentary from its new production banner, Disneynature. This new film is from award-winning British producer/director Alastair Fothergill, whose credits included the Emmy and Peadbody award-winning Planet Earth series (BBC and The Discovery Channel) and The Blue Planet.

Earth follows three animal families over the course of a year – the Polar Bear, the Whale, and the Elephant. In between this journey Earth manages to also cover a number of extraordinary animal displays – including the mating dance of PNG’s Superb Bird of Paradise.

I’ve included the official Earth trailer below – I’m looking forward to watching it.
