O Luther – Wherefore Art Thou?

It’s Election Year in PNG and as we all know, this year will be the first time that some citizens will see their elected representatives in over four years. Sad, but true. PNG’s daily newspapers’ Letters sections are constantly full opinion pieces of frustrated Papua New Guineans demanding to know where their local Members of Parliament have disappeared to.

Following the Lae riots of 2011, and the increasing lawlessness in PNG’s second largest city, Lae residents are asking as to the whereabouts of their Bik Man, Governor Luther Wenge.

I found this tongue-in-cheek poster on The Critic reflecting some Lae resident’s sentiments on the silence of their leader:

  1. That is a wonderful post and I loved the picture.

As an American living abroad I ask exactly the same thing of my elected representatives – where are they? We never see them (even though many of us vote from abroad) and when we go to their websites they don’t even allw us to enter a foreign address. It’s quite funny and really frustrating. There are 6 million of us but according to the politicians in the U.S. we don’t really exist.🙂

  2. Some truly choice articles on this website , saved to favorites .

  3. For your information folks..Wenge is the Defender of country Papua New Guinea. You can say and think negative things about him but he defence the Constitution of the country.

What do you think?
