Hi, I really like your blog. I notice that you have a bit on Islam in PNG and I am doing a PhD on that topic at the moment… I’m trying to get in touch with Alex Daiwa… do you know him? he was the first to embrace islam in PNG and one of the muslim brother told me he now lives in Australia…
Having read your rash response to Ms. Swain’s attempt to capture her thoughts, I read your blog! Great work and, if you’d like to see what we’ve done here at M-CAM to actually deal with a number of the same issues, you’d find that our passions are remarkably similar. I’m sorry that you felt it necessary to attack rather than engage with the small group of people who are making great personal investments to LEARN.
hi we have recently returned from another HD shoot on Bougainville and trying to raise funds for this Feature.
We produced the first images of the war via ABC in the early 90’s. – and then the International Award Winning Documentary, Bougainville – “Our Island, Our Fight”. and the recent feature on Iraq. – not much difference really? in the bigger picture side of things. – you can find the trailer and info at http://www.ipso-facto.tv
Thought you might like to check out http://www.8milesettlement.com, perhaps PNG’s first website dedicated to a settlement community…
Cheers mate,
Sean.

Tavurvur bloke,
Just to re-introduce myself, we’ve had a meet before, regarding the French blatantly nicking the Bilum name…another forum, another time and hopefully fully resolved at this stage, but on an entirely new note…I’ve recently had contact with a Swiss couple who have been travelling the world in their ancient Toyota Land Cruiser for the last 25 years (since October 1984) and are currently trying to head towards PNG from Tahiti.
They have been to 165 countries so far, and their website goes some way to explaining their travels/experiences during this time.
Their website is located at : http://www.weltrekordreise.ch and they want to make PNG their next ‘port of call’, so to speak.
I have tried to advise them as to the places they need to see, to fulfill their experience of PNG (They (hopefully) land in Lae next April), and are heading up the Highlands Highway to Goroka, or possibly Kainantu, and then back to the Ramu Highway, up to Madang/Jais Aben for a look-see and maybe some diving and snorkelling/fishing/kicking-back etc.
My problem is that they have lost contact with the PNG Tourism authorities over the 25 years (since 1984…good grief) that they have been doing this “road-trip”, and need some guidance on who to speak with, in regards to getting into the country in the first place.
I just know that your followers/readers would love to help this couple out, and publicize their anticipated arrival, so that they can enjoy this country to its’ fullest extent when they get here, so if you can see your way clear to publishing this appeal for contact details within the PNG Tourism Department/organization, please let me know so that I can keep Emil & Liliana posted as to any potential addressees they can contact for their information.
I feel that the more we publicize the impending visit to PNG of this couple, the more it will benefit their experience in this unique and diverse country, and, who knows..? perhaps it may be the highlight of the entire, lifetime, world-tour they are doing.
Cheers mate, appreciate any help you can provide.

Hi Scotty,
Thanks for your comment.
I don’t know him but I may know some people who may know some people who may know him. Did that make sense?
I’ll fire out a list of emails and see what I get back. Stay in touch Scotty.
P.S: I would very much like to read your PhD thesis once you have completed it. If that is ok.
Regards,
Tavurvur
I would like to have some garamut drum music. Do you know of any recordings?
Andy Bennett
Hi Andy,
Yes, I do know of a couple recordings. I’ll send you an email.
